The masterplan reintegrates this strategically important site into its surrounding urban context, creating a mixed–use urban quarter with residential, commercial and retail space and new public spaces and patterns of permeability. A new square facing Newman Street forms the centrepiece of the proposals and provides the focal point for public routes across the site.
Rathbone Place
Following Royal Mail Group’s rationalisation of its postal service in London and the release of its Rathbone Place site for redevelopment, we were appointed to develop a detailed planning proposal for this one–hectare site to the north of Oxford Street. This is a project of PLP Architecture.
The proposals address the complex challenges of the site, comprising adjacent listed buildings and underground infrastructure to offer substantial wider benefits beyond the boundaries of the site which respond to aspirations to enhance the regeneration of the east part of Oxford Street.
