The existing building is situated in a prominent location adjacent to Swiss Cottage Underground Station and the Grade II listed Swiss Cottage library. The monolithic form of the building severs connections between the commercial heart of Swiss Cottage and cultural and leisure activities arranged around the green to its east.

The proposals retains commercial facilities at ground floor level and offer enhanced access to the Jubilee Line Underground Station. Working with Space Syntax and WSP the proposals included rationalisation of the traffic arrangements at Swiss Cottage which currently contribute to a hostile environment for pedestrians.
